How management can keep stress down and productivity up in the workplace

Keeping employees motivated and stress-free is the goal of many small business owners trying to run a business during a down economy.

And while business owners are dealing with many responsibilities - customers, employees, cash flow - at the same time, trying to keep priorities consistent and lines of communication open is important.

This is according to an article on TheStreet.com advising managers to evaluate each situation or problem before making it the number one priority - this can incite panic among employees.

The piece goes on to say that whispers and closed door meetings may appear secretive and cause employees to worry about what is really going on at the company. Try to be open and communicate often, says the article.

A recent report in Family Business Magazine echoed these sentiments noting that tough economic times will come and go for many business cycles and management should learn to use a measured approach in company dealings.

In the article, industry expert Wayne Rivers cites communication as a key to relieving workplace stress.
