Experts say longtail keyword searches help boost ecommerce business
Many small businesses rely on their ecommerce portal as an increasingly important way - and sometimes the only one - to conduct business.
Website design, hosting and site management are important yet time consuming duties. Many small shops look to professionals for help with these processes.
But one way small business owners can help buoy website traffic on their own is by identifying and implementing key search trends.
A search engine optimization article from Practical Ecommerce advises small business owners to spend time researching the most relevant keywords for their site, and then create articles, videos and consumer reviews that are relevant to that predefined list.
Focusing on longtail keywords - or the series of words consumers string together to conduct a web search - could boost business, says the article.
Hitwise, a company tracking important web analytics, reports that the majority of web searches consist of two words. However, long keyword searches - particularly those with eight or more words - increased by 20 percent since last year.
The market intelligence data from Hitwise also shows that over 72 percent of all online searches were done using Google.
