How small business owners are coping with a stressed workforce
This is not the first time many small business owners have faced tough economic times, and likely will not be the last.
To keep stress and worry in check, maintain perspective and share that measured vision with your employees, says a recent article in Family Business Magazine.
According to author and industry expert Wayne Rivers, communication is key to understanding and addressing employee concerns - whether it be about unemployment fears, work demands or office stress.
Rivers also advises small business owners to seriously re-evaluate the company budget. But when looking to make alterations, use a scalpel instead of a meat cleaver, he advises.
Despite the worry that is running rampant as the economy remains shaky, a number of Canadians are optimistic about the opportunities the recession or a layoff may bring.
According to an article on Macleans.ca, a number of Canadians are taking severance packages or savings and returning to school for new training or opening their own small businesses.
The new report also said with prices remaining depressed, some people are making first-time home purchases or buying new cars.
