University professionals document local business success stories

Two business management specialists from the University of Lethbridge have documented the success of multi-generational businesses in a new book.

Little Empires - Multi-Generation Small Business in Southern Alberta follows the success stories of 11 businesses in the area and divulges their secrets to longevity and profitability.

As reported in the Lethbridge Herald, co-authors Gordon Hunter and Dan Kazakoff launched the book last week in the company of those families and owners featured in the new work.

In the book, Hunter and Kazakoff included the owners and operators' personal reflections on being part of a multi-generational success story.

"It shows the passion that each person has for working in their own small business and their feeling of responsibility they have for maintaining the family asset for future generations," Hunter told the news source of the personal contributions.

The Herald article also points to the educational component this book offers. The stories from the owners and subsequent analysis by the authors provide comprehensive insight on viable ways to start and maintain a business.
