How businesses can find each other and help one another during a recession
Tough economic times are forcing small businesses to be resourceful, and often times they turn to one another for sales leads and advice.
Vaughtoday.ca is reporting that local merchants are using small business networks to weather the economic downturn.
Sue Gergely, the vice president of a local networking group, tells the news source that some members are directly or indirectly garnering 25 percent of annual business as a result of the networking activities.
More and more businesses are using web-based social networks in a similar way to meet and attract interested customers and business affiliates.
Finding business partners, suppliers and vendors may eventually take a new media angle.
Students at the University of Maine have developed a new tech gadget that senses the proximity of someone else with similar interests, according to an article from the AP.
The student designers think it could be used at business conventions or commerce meetings to link up merchants that meet each other's needs.
