How a new generation is throwing caution to the wind and pursuing new business ventures
Today's economy means there are no "sure-thing" job opportunities for recent graduates of university and masters programs.
Given a host of new economic challenges, some young adults are creating their own rules and own paths by starting a small business.
According to a report in the Vancouver Sun, organizations that support entrepreneurs have seen an influx of potential business owners stream through their doors.
The Canadian Youth Business Foundation and the Impact Entrepreneurship Group have both witnessed a substantial increase in applicants for their services. CYBF has seen a jump in applications of 68 percent during the first quarter alone, reports the Vancouver Sun.
A number of young adults are saying that corporate job stability is a thing of the past, leading them to forge their own path by pursuing small business registration, designing a website and getting a business up and running.
The CYBF mission says it looks at "character not collateral" when helping young adults with mentoring at any stage of the process and start-up financing for new ventures.
