How an improved outlook for U.S. small businesses may benefit Canadian counterparts

Many expect that an improved U.S. economy will lead to a revitalized export business for Canadian businesses.  The question is - will that economic recovery happen sooner or later?

Canadian small business owners struggling with depressed sales may be happy to hear that their counterparts in the U.S. are expressing more optimistic views on the state of the economy in the near future.

According to the Discover Small Business Watch monthly index, small business owners generally feel the economy is "fair" or "poor," but fewer expect to see conditions deteriorate further.

Business owners also have buoyed prospects for their own business.  About 24 percent of owners surveyed see economic conditions for their own operations improving - up 5 percent since last month - and 21 percent intend to increase spending on business development.

Throughout this economic roller coaster, marketing experts have advised businesses - where and when possible - to keep up marketing efforts.  Keeping your business name in front of clients and building brand loyalty despite tough economic times should bode well in the long-run, they say.
